Hi friends, and welcome to Traveling with Daniel.
If you’ve found your way here, I want to start by saying—I’m so sorry for whatever brought you to a space about grief. Whether you’ve lost a child, love someone who has, or are simply curious about this journey, I’m glad you’re here.
My name is Anne, and I’m a mom learning to live in what I call the “After.” My life changed forever the day my son died unexpectedly when he was a toddler. In those early days, getting out of bed felt impossible. My world was broken into two pieces: Before and After.
This blog was born because a dear friend reminded me that my story might help someone else—someone who is hurting, lost, or unsure how to move forward. I share it not because I have all the answers, but because I believe in the power of connection, honesty, and shared experience.
Why Travel?
Travel wasn’t something I turned to immediately. But somewhere along the way, planning trips became a small lifeline. It gave me purpose when everything felt meaningless. It reminded me there were still sunrises to greet, open roads to wander, and cultures to discover—even when joy felt far away.
Now, I Travel With Daniel everywhere I go. My son’s favorite toy—a little striped tiger, lives in my pocket on every trip. It’s my reminder that he will always be part of every adventure.

What You’ll Find Here
Here, I’ll share:
- Travel tips that make exploring affordable, approachable, and deeply meaningful.
- Reflections on grief—honest, unpolished, and real.
- Stories and mishaps from my travels (because laughter helps too).
- Encouragement and resources for your own journey through loss.
Whether you’re a grieving parent, someone supporting a grieving friend, or just a fellow traveler seeking connection, my hope is that you leave here with a little more courage, inspiration, and maybe even a new idea for your next trip.
